Terms of service

Last updated 29 October 2026

These terms apply when you use Birdroom at birdroom.app, including the installed app on your phone. Birdroom is run by Darren Forsdike, trading as Birdroom, based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these terms.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or over, or have a parent or guardian's permission, to create an account.
  • Give us a real email address and keep your password private. You are responsible for anything done using your account.
  • Tell us straight away at support@birdroom.app if you think someone else has used your account.

Plans and payment

  • The Free plan is free forever, with limits of 10 birds, 3 cages and 20 photos, and no breeding tracking.
  • New accounts get a 14-day free trial of Pro. No card is needed for the trial. When it ends your account moves to the Free plan unless you subscribe.
  • Pro costs £9.99 a month or £99.99 a year. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year until you cancel. You can cancel any time from the Billing page; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • If we change prices, we will email you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, so you can cancel first.
  • Refunds are covered by our refund policy.

Your data

  • Your bird records, photos and notes belong to you. We only use them to run Birdroom for you.
  • You can export your data at any time from Settings.
  • How we handle personal information is explained in our privacy policy.
  • If your plan moves to Free, we do not delete anything. Breeding pages are locked and you cannot add birds, cages or photos beyond the Free limits, but everything comes back as it was when you upgrade.

Fair use

Please do not:

  • try to access other people's accounts or data, or interfere with how Birdroom works;
  • upload anything unlawful, offensive, or that you do not have the right to share;
  • use Birdroom to record or help with the illegal trade of birds or protected species.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where reasonable we will warn you first.

Reminders and records

Birdroom helps you keep track of ringing dates, hatch dates and tasks, but it is a record-keeping tool. You remain responsible for the care of your birds and for meeting any legal requirements, such as ringing rules or Article 10 paperwork. We cannot guarantee every reminder or notification will arrive, for example if your phone blocks them.

Availability

We work to keep Birdroom running and your data backed up, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve features over time. If we ever close Birdroom we will give you at least 60 days' notice so you can export your data.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under UK law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, or for business losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the problem happened.

Closing your account

You can close your account at any time by emailing support@birdroom.app. Cancel any paid subscription first. We delete your data as described in our privacy policy.

Changes to these terms

If we make important changes we will tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Birdroom after that, the new terms apply.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@birdroom.app and we will try to put it right.
